Moi University has again found itself in the hot seat after a recent notice from The Council of Legal Education excluded the University in its list of institutions allowed to teach law.
This comes almost two years after the Council ordered the university to stop offering the course, a directive which Moi University successfully challenged in court.
In his ruling on April 4, 2016, High Court Judge George Odunga held that the Council had overstepped its mandate, thereby allowing Moi University to continue offering the course.
Following the release of the report, Moi University has come out strongly against The Council for Legal Education, accusing it of trying to undermine the original decision of the court.
“CLE’s notice is not only illegal as it flies in the face of the findings of the High Court, but also a mischievous attempt at subverting the judgment, against which it has chosen to exercise its right of appeal,” reads a statement by Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Laban Ayiro.
The University maintains that its course is fully accredited.
