10 reasons why campus students avoid dating from the same campus

By KEVIN OJIAMBO | March 13th 2017
Leviticus 18:8-18, is the reason that all student who doesn't want to date from the same campus will give.

They consider each student inside their campus to be as a family in one way or the other but believe me this reason goes beyond Leviticus. Here are some of the ten common ones.

Campus talking point

They say (I don’t know who) that relationship is like gestation, you can’t hide. It’s a similar scenario to dating from the same campus; everybody at one point comes to know whereas most couples try as much to avoid their love life known to the public to avoid attention.

Also, they avoid being the subject of discussion around the compound. It only gets worse if one of the partners had a thing before with someone else from the same campus.

‘I have seen him/her with…’ rumours

Now that almost everyone on campus knows you are a couple, the number of watchdog increases, you can’t do something in isolation.

Everyone is your friend the moment they see your partner walking with someone that’s not you that the rumor gets to you even faster if your partner behaved in a manner to suggest they ended up in bed.

Revelation to dishonesty

Ask a couple why they cheat and believe me most will say it’s because their partners are not always around most times but here on campus, you will always be together either personally or on the same compound each week.

Every move you make is being watched either directly or indirectly that it makes it harder to cheat your partner- that is if you are that type of partner.

Small circle

One is always forced to cut off some longtime friends in crime in order to maintain their relationship which might not last as long as the friendship.

Letting your friend out of your circle only because your partner doesn’t like them is always a hard decision to make, others even regulate your visit to the social media platform and if need be, they tell you what to post and what to comment.

Fake lifestyle

You are obligated to live a life that you were not used to so that you make your partner contented and by that, you have changed your class.

A class that goes to clubs and parties with her/him then take selfies so that the whole campus to see you are taken and happily enjoying each other’s company.

A class that you are supposed to shower three times a day, a class that never eats rice and beans in the school pavilion etc. the list is endless.

Dressing style

While in campus, all that matters is you attending classes and so in case you are late for lectures, you can put on any type of cloth and sandals then rush to class but the moment you date that student from your campus, everything tends to change from your dressing style.

This is because in one way or the other you will have to meet her, whether willingly or unwillingly and who you to make your impressions questionable!

Academic performance

If you want to piss off a campus student try and give him/her educational guidance about his/her performance.

Unless you are their parents/guardians consider your friendship done because you don’t pay their fees but now that he/she is dating from the same campus, the third party has to be involved.

You are now forced to work extra hard than usual not to get a supplementary for after all who would want to date an injudicious person or be a school laughing stock because your partner is dump.

Nonstop ‘lungula’

Majority of students prefer their sex life scheduled that they could go for up to a five day consecutive ‘dry spell’ if one of the partners is busy so that they enjoy when it finally ‘rains’ but the moment you date from the same campus, your partner is closer hence the rate at which you practice the ‘lungula’ is skeptical.

You don’t need to ask for it as of previous because you are sure you will get it anytime you want it unless her ‘aunt Flo’ comes to town or his ‘baba nani’ runs out of bullets.

Just as Jesus’ replies to Saturn in the wilderness as he tried to tempt him, campus students also hate temptations which tend to increase the moment they start dating that girl/boy from the same campus.

This is when they start getting numerous messages from crushes that they never knew about willing to be their side chicks/side guys and even go further by threatening to expose them when they turn down the request by posing the erotic selfies they took before you decided to settle.

‘Maproblems’ lovers

Before you used to be a calm student who tried as much as possible not to be noticed but after you got engaged with that person that you admired, everything changed.

Almost everyone in your school knew about you because of the irrelevant complains with your partner such as why you don’t call, why you text irregularly, justification of where you sleep when you aren’t together, why you misbehaved in a certain party, why your best friend is a girl/boy and so on.
