Harambee Stars set to play Uganda and DR Congo

Football Kenya Federation on Wednesday confirmed that Kenya will play two friendly matches this month.

The Benjamin Okumbi-coached side that has enjoyed an eight-match unbeaten run will host Uganda and DR Congo at Nyayo National Stadium on March 22 and 26 respectively.

These friendlies are aimed to improve the squad in preparation for the African Cup of Nations(AFCON) in 2019.

Kenya is pooled alongside Sierra Leone, Ethiopia and Ghana. These four nations will battle it out for one slot in AFCON 2019 in Cameroon.

Harambee Stars won 1-0 over DR Congo in Kinshasa and drew 0-0 with Uganda last year.

The local team is poised to cause an upset given their current impressive run as they face these two high-ranked teams.

(Kenya is position 87, while DR Congo and Uganda sit on 37th and 75th respectively) who, needless to say, they participated in the just concluded AFCON in Gabon two months ago.
