Despite Dr. Fred Matiang’i receiving applause from a good number of Kenyans because of the 2016 KCSE results, there is still a lot of discontentment from some students, teachers and Kenya National Union of Teachers Knut leaders.

Speaking to the Education Committee of the National Assembly yesterday Knut secretary General Wilson Sossion said that the teachers feel that the released 2016 KCSE exams has pending issues which need to be looked at.

According to him, teachers have a number of grievances concerning the 2016 KCSE exams and that is why they need MPs to help recall the 2016 KCSE exams.

First and foremost teachers alleged that the exam officials deliberately failed students to justify the fight against cheating.

Secondly, they say that the Kenya National Examination council (Knec) skipped crucial stages of the examination’s making and grading.

They also said that Knec failed to standardise the examination.Kenya Union of Post Primary official (Kuppet) official Akello Misori said that Knec failed to standardise the examination and set up the grading system that made many students to fail.

They further said that Knec released raw results in its rush to beat the deadline.According to them, the results were supposed to be moderated before being released.

Teachers also said that marking was done hurriedly without really critically counter checking the making of those exams.

Lastly, they said that the examiners used the same grading system across all subjects an issue that disadvantaged those who were taking sciences.

According to them, this is why many girls because of taking humanities performed well compared to their male counterparts who a good nuhnber of them took sciences.
