IT’S A TWO HORSE RACE BETWEEN NGUNJIRI WAMBUGU AND HON ESTHER MURUGI FOR NYERI TOWN MP.

The race for Nyeri town constituency Member of Parliament is shaping up to be a do or die battle between incumbent Esther Murugi and political consultant Ngunjiri Wambugu.

Honorable Murugi is banking on her experience as a seasoned politician of Nyeri town constituency. She has been the only MP in Nyeri town who has served for two terms.

She has over the years managed to keep her support base intact. Both the youth and the elderly, have supported her over the years until there were allegations that were linking her with mismanagement of CDF funds and misplaced priorities.

Another challenge she is facing is the wave of change that is sweeping the area. There is a number of youths who have been supporting her that are now also eying the seat. Some of them also are not interested in campaigning for her.

However Honorable Murugi strongest point has been her network and grassroots support. But this will not help her very much.

Mr. Ngunjiri, on the other hand, has so much knowledge on national politics. He is optimistic that, that will give him an upper hand to clinch the seat.

He is promising to improve the standards of education, empower the boy child and beef up security in the area.

He has put in place a vibrant campaign team that is leaving nothing to chance.

The Jubilee strategist has set up a fully functioning secretariat to manage his campaigns and it will be a grueling battle between him and the incumbent.

Meanwhile, Other people who have declared their interest in the seat are, Duncan Maina who ran on a GNU party and finished second during the 2013 poll, Patrick Ngatia and Stanley Gacheru a lawyer by profession.
