Are college students taking advantage of higher studies?

UREPORT
By Innocent Tsalwa | January 13th 2017
I am constantly amazed at the current value of education to varsity and college students in Kenya of late. We are missing the point by claiming that graduating from a college is the end goal of our studies.

This, however, is not true. An individual's end goal should be the
accessibility of opportunities to better lives and be fully
contributing members of the society.Students have failed to understand that they need to be better prepared than their parents and elders so as to grab the opportunity to break the cycle of poverty in their families.

While at child stage, everyone was told to write about what they want to do, who they want to become, and how to give back to the community.

Everyone's dream was about what life can be like in the future,
entering careers, starting a business, inventing new technologies, etc.But the question comes, without the necessary skills and tools that colleges can help them, will they ever be ready to take advantage of that great opportunity or create their own?By no means our current system of higher education is perfect.

The the most annoying fact is that most university and college students do not take advantage of the grand opportunity they have to achieve their dreams. Some are lost in drunkenness and immorality while others have joined illegal gangs.

Finally, we end up producing half-baked graduates to the field.A longtime notion for most learners is that after studies they'll earn a good job. But in the current changing world, it is no longer
accommodated.

Getting a college degree is not solely about increasing students' earning potential, and in no way guarantees they will get better jobs or live a higher quality life.Higher learning process itself prepares them to take advantage of the most expansive set of career chances and to blaze their own trails.

Woe unto those who misuse the chance. The society needs creative thinkers, innovators, and problem solvers. For once, let university and college students take higher education with a lot of seriousness
