Tension mount in Jubilee camp as the general elections draws near

With elections around the corner, politicians are doing all they can to retain their positions. For those who did not make it to any position are now struggling to keep their house in order so as to be elected.

Speaking in Bungoma yesterday, the ODM deputy party leader who is also the governor of Kakamega said that there is a lot of pressure mounting in the jubilee camp because the opposition has upped their game in ensuring that the loopholes that could see the government rig election are sealed. Oparanya claims that the government is not at ease because the possible loopholes that can help the jubilee government rig and retain power have been sealed and now they are doing anything possible to devise other methods. He further said that their eyes are wide open to see to it that the coming general elections are free and fair.

According to Operanya, they will not allow any changes to the election report that Jubilee is pushing for. By so doing he said the government will be going against the will of Kenyans. He further cautioned leaders who are advocating for that not to use their powers in a wrong way because they will be doing a disservice to those who elected them to the position they hold. The ODM deputy party leader also expressed the need for the government to respect the constitution and the electoral institution put in place so that Kenya regain it lost integrity and peace.

This comes amidst of the leader of the majority in parliament Aden Duale initiating the calling of parliament from recess in order to discuss issues on the electoral laws in the amendment bill of 2015.The opposition successful managed to block the amendment of the law saying that the laws were a wish of Kenyan people and it cannot be amended through few people. However, the MPs allied to the government have vowed to push on and see to it that they have amended the laws for the efficient working of the electoral body.

On his side, Mr. Duale said that the opposition was afraid of the election because they are very sure they are going to lose. He said they are tired of the opposition accusing the government of election irregularities instead of working on their plan to win the election. He further said that there is no place the opposition will be in co-operated in the government. According to him, they know that the opposition is working very hard to hold the government hostage.

Meanwhile, Oparanya told their supporters that they should not be worried because all is going to work well for them. He urged them to rally behind the ODM party leader to ensure that they win the coming general election. Also, he took that time to reassure all those who are seeking for ODM tickets for fare nomination.
