We need leaders who talk less and act more

As we wait for more events to gallop and the politicians to enter in the arena of dirty politics of hoodwinking people by their crafty words seeking to be re-elected or elected in different positions, its high time that we vote leaders not by their tribe, gender or any other set of discrimination but we should vote leaders on the quality of their performance. Let us not be fooled by their gimmick talk which has prevailed for long.

As the voters we need to be keen on those who we are going to elect. Previously many people were deceived by leaders who supported parties which linked them to prominent leaders vying for presidential posts, but most of the leaders were not learned and have done nothing to their constituencies, ward and counties.

It is regrettable to note that the people we gave the privilege to represent us in the government have instead represented themselves, their family and their close circle of friends.

It is high time for people to know that they possess the real power. The real power is to recognize that our votes are too precious to be wasted on incompetent leaders.

We have witnessed leaders whom we elected on goodwill and promised they will bring free education, tarmac our roads, provide free medical treatment and establish clinics and schools in the villages where people live, and yet they have done nothing. Instead, they are involved in different scandals of embezzling public funds while the common mwananchi is being taxed profoundly.

To add salt to an injury, the same leaders who came begging for votes were as poor as any other common mwananshi. Years later, they become very rich and they still have the audacity to campaign for another term of office yet they did absolutely nothing to the people who elected them to office.

It’s time for Kenyans to be watchful and scoop out the non-performers and the loud mouthed politicians. Actually, we need leaders who talk less and act more. We are tired of the gimmick talks from confused leaders who are extremely corrupt.
