Okoa Kenya was doomed from the start

It is said you can fool a few people sometimes, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

I am convinced beyond any shadow of doubt that CORD was aware there were issues with its referendum bid signatures, if what IEBC displayed on TV was real and true.

In theory, CORD was offering IEBC a rope with which to hang itself. IEBC was damned if it allowed the bid and damned too if it did not.

CORD being one of the most popular parties in Kenya, it is inconceivable that it could not raise one million genuine signatures.

Furthermore, it is true that its experts and legal advisors may have examined the signature books.

Therefore one can only conclude that the referendum bid was designed to fail from the start, and CORD was taking IEBC on a wild goose chase.

The party has been at loggerheads with IEBC since the last election. I believe the signature caper was a clever trap laid to nab the team.

If the IEBC allowed the signatures, CORD would of course have enjoyed the chance to prove its popularity in a referendum but at a most opportune time, it would surely have exposed IEBC’s fraudulent action. Hence confirming how their votes were stolen in 2013.

On the contrary, CORD was obviously aware that, IEBC could see through its trick and reject the signatures, thus applying reverse psychology.

It is unlike CORD though to yield to IEBC’s insinuations. Battle lines would of course be drawn with CORD denouncing IEBC’s exposure. It would come up with all manner of excuses to make IEBC be hounded out of office. This is exactly what is happening.

It appears IEBC saw the trap and decided to bite the bullet. After all, it’s better to die standing than to live on one’s knees.

Time has come for IEBC to give a full account of itself. One thing is for sure though, as long as parties continue losing elections, it does not matter which angels are in charge of IEBC, they will always be demonised.
