Most university students are drowning in alcohol

Most students engaging in substance use do not complete their studies due to poor academic performance, Dr Joseph Owin, Dean of the School of Natural Sciences at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, says.

At the same time, Nacada Western region manager Sarah Koske revealed that alcohol is a major contributor to socio-economic problems in the workplace.

The two were speaking at a workshop on the fight against drug and substance use in tertiary institutions.

“We must talk to our family members and colleagues at the workplace as well as the community about drug abuse other than believing in myths. We might not save everyone but we can save a few,” Ms Koske said.
