Holy smoke! Why church condemns Wajackoyah Roots Party

The Federation of Evangelical and Indigenous Christian Churches of Kenya has accused Roots Party presidential aspirant George Wajackoyah of mocking God. The group further claims that some promises being made by the aspirant, among them snake farming, bhang growing and legalising prostitution, are misleading.
Bishop Samuel Njiriri, who is the chairman and the presiding Bishop of Stewards Revival Pentecostal Church, says the churches have now been forced to boldly oppose Wajackoyah.
“The aspirant is misleading a lot of people because bhang is an illegal substance in Kenya yet he is talking about it,” said Njiriri
“At the same time, he is mocking God by wrongly quoting Bible like when he said he will promote prostitution given a chance,” he added.
The Bishop says that the Bible is clear on prostitutes and how they should be treated.
“If such advice is taken seriously, he could ruin the youth. His agenda is to mislead like when he quotes Bible verses,” said the Bishop.
“As the church, we have made it part of the sermon to preach against his agendas because if immoral people are allowed to rule, the country will slip into darkness,” he added.
The group’s sentiments came after Catholic Bishops also told Kenyans not to vote for politicians seeking to destroy the lives of youths through the liberalisation of drug abuse.
Nyeri Archbishop Anthony Muheria, who spoke on behalf of the clerics, said voters must also reject people supporting abortion and those with the agenda of liberalising outlawed sexual behaviours.
