The five types of people you should never get entangled with. Number three is the workmate

Casual sex is all the rage nowadays. I am all for consenting adults doing whatever they want, however they want and with whomever they want. Having said that, I feel that there are certain groups of people you should steer clear of when considering a one-night stand or a no-strings-attached arrangement. Like, sure, it is just fun, meaningless sex, but having sex with the following categories of people almost always never ends well.  
 
1. Exes  
In the past, I may have intimated that exes are a good choice for casual sex because you have already slept with them so they know exactly what gets you going in the sheets and tehrefore you will avoid that awkward first-time sexual encounter. 

However, in hindsight, I have realised that exes are a horrible choice for casual sex. There are always some unresolved feelings after a relationship ends and you could find yourself in a complicated situation by sleeping with an ex you still have feelings for or who still has feelings for you. The relationship ended for a reason. Don’t muddle things up again by having sex.  
 
2. Friends 
If you have friends of the opposite sex, you should never sleep with them no matter how hot and bothered you feel. That friendship would never be the same again.  You would never be able to go back to that easygoing relationship you had with each other before. There is also a chance one of you might develop feelings and start expecting more, complicating things further. A quick roll on the hay is not worth losing your friendship.  
 
3. Work colleagues/bosses 
Office romances will never be a good idea. First of all, they are forbidden in some companies, so you could be risking your job by getting involved with a co-worker, even if it is just for fun.
 Secondly, what you may believe is harmless flirting could be interpreted as sexual harassment. Sleeping with a boss might make people think you are trying to further your career by sleeping your way to the top. If you sleep with an employee or someone who reports to you, it could be seen as sexual harassment. You see, there is no scenario where office romances end well. Find your one-night stand anywhere else.  
 
4. Relatives 
This should go without saying, but there is a surprisingly large number of people who think cousins, stepsiblings, stepparents etc are fair game (thanks a lot pornhub). First of all, eeeeew! Incestuous relations are gross. It doesn’t matter how distant that relative is, don’t do it. It is immoral.  
 
5. Married people 
You are single, so you don’t have an obligation to stay faithful to anyone, right? So what if you sleep with a married guy? He is the one breaking his commitment to his wife, not you, right? Wrong! If you have any sense of humanity in you, you will feel guilty about sleeping with someone else’s husband. You also run the risk of developing feelings for this married person, which, as we Kenyans like to say, will definitely end in premium tears because he will never leave his wife for you.
