Partying without panties

In today's entertainment, the intimate garments are discarded as concerts are turned to live pornography scenes, writes STEVENS MUENDO

"Why do female fans remove their panties and throw them to the podium when a male star is performing?" a buddy asked on a boy’s night out.

He sounded spooky. It was totally from the blues.

"And how on earth are we supposed to know," another responded.

There was an awkward silence, then a flattering laughter.

popular sexual provocative bend-over dance routine.

It all started with a gyrating act as the bare chest singers got the girls’ dresses up to their waist. Within no time, it was a free show for all as the two got dirty on the floor simulating a sex act.

The obscene acts went on with more girls going for the same pill as hundreds watched and applauded. Others threw their pants on the podium screaming for attention from the musicians who were having a field day with the Kenyan female fans.

At that point, I recalled our earlier debate on how the hemline has lately gone up as young girls become weird and wacky as they explore happiness and satisfaction.

The ugly picture painted by the young girls during the dancehall concert night is just the tip of the iceberg on the new social trends urban youth are engaged in.

Sex is no longer sacred as it was deemed, neither is fornication viewed as immorality in a generation where technology has opened the eyes of the youth who are copying foreign cultures and draining away local traditional norms.

In fact, many parents would die of shock if they found out what their teenage daughters are exposed to once they slam the door for a night out.

A night outing for an adventurous girl today sounds like a fairy tale in which she immediately becomes a different person the moment she steps out. To win a parent’s confidence, girls dress in decent trousers and jackets only to remove them a few metres from the house to more revealing and seductive ‘micro dress’ that is provocative enough to get men drooling after her. Her bag is a self-contained vessel with several pairs of clothes to last an entire weekend complete with make-up and other accessories. Such a girl is usually on the prowl ready to be chips fungward by a male willing to domesticate her for a weekend.

All the underlying risks not withstanding, most teenage and college girls seem to have thrown caution through the window and to them, getting romantically involved with a stranger is not a big deal.

Then there is another lot, which moves in packs and are like wolves looking for men to devour. In the club, they party independently in a group and it is their flirty and witty demeanour that attract men to them. Once they get men to their table, their next strategy is to share them equally and get the best out of them.

Shocking as it may seem, many young urban girls get involved in sex orgies in house parties all night where — after excessive drinking — they end up having sex with multiple partners.

"In more than one incident, my friends and I have had ‘three-some’ sex during a party. The first time we had planned, it was just for experiment. We liked it and we still do it to date," says Patricia, a 20-year-old university student.

"My friends and I like girls (lesbians) and not men. For convenience we do a girls’ night out in my friend’s house where we make out without having to worry. The advantage when you are out with the girls, parents will not suspect that you are having sex," says another girl who declined to be named, fearing public ridicule.

From a light peck and deep kiss, to sexual exchange, tribadism is on the rise in urban Kenya.

"The fact that I make out with my girlfriends does not mean I have no feelings for men. I have a boyfriend. We have been together for two years. Whatever we do with the girls could be all that (good) but I do it for fun," adds our source.

"Sometimes we lock ourselves and play pornography videos to arouse ourselves. Whatever happens behind closed doors remains there and we don’t discuss it to any of our other friends," she remarks.

Besides, Internet social sites are now the leading sex centres for the young. Three weeks ago — on a Friday afternoon, Simon G (code name) logged into the social Internet site and hooked-up with 21-year old Sexyslim (code name). She was a total stranger, but the picture on her page and the description of who she was and where she lived attracted him to her.

He invited her for a drink. Besides, he had learned from her profile that she also lives in Nairobi. By 8pm that evening, they were partying like old mates in a Westlands club. They ended up at Simon’s residence where they spent the weekend. The rest is history.

Strange as it may sound, social networks are now what night outs and hanging at the malls used to be about ten years ago. It is the free highway where anyone can negotiate and ‘trade’ for a night of pleasure without inhibitions.

"Well, guys like girls in skimpy dresses and tights. But they will only take them to bed and that is where it all ends. No man wants to marry such a character," says Joy Mutune, a psychologist.

"But still, many girls in this generation are not seriously thinking about marriage when they date a man. They are in it for fun. That is why many young girls are going for the old married man who will supply their emotional and sexual wants with no strings attached. Funny enough, for them, it is now fashionable to date a sugar daddy," she adds.

The story of young college girls indulging in street sex trade and club strip is an old tale.

But the execution of twilight activities has changed. Twilight girls who would otherwise be found in the streets at night have now turned themselves into career models who are now into VIP escort business.
