Why it is a good idea to participate in conserving trees

The Mau deforestation has caused controversy in the country. It is saddening to hear some politicians defending people who destroy forests and water catchment areas. Today we face hunger and lack water and power because we destroyed the environment.

Trees have many benefits to us. First, trees are a natural home for our world-famous wildlife that attracts tourists to our country who in turn boost our economy by bringing in foreign exchange.

Secondly, trees provide medicines that we take when sick. Trees are also used for making furniture that we use at home, school and offices. The notebooks that we write on in school are also produced from paper processed from trees.

Trees produce the oxygen that we all breathe and also absorb carbon dioxide that ensures balance of gases in the atmosphere. Moreover, trees act as wind breakers and hold the soil together against erosion.

So, if you must cut one tree, make sure you plant two others! It is a good idea to participate in tree planting events because trees are life!
