Wajir has embarked on a journey towards energy resilience, cost savings, and environmental stewardship. The county headquarters, Wajir County referral hospital and all county offices will be powered by solar.

"Doctors used to struggle when performing surgery at night as the rampant power outages were affecting their work; we are glad to announce that through this solar project, there will be no more power blackouts, and our doctors can comfortably work for the people" Ahmed added.

Mr Omar Hussein, the Chief Officer for Energy and Mining has emphasised the need to expand solarisation to all the county departments he says doing will amplify the benefits achieved at the county headquarters and further enhance energy efficiency across the county.

"By harnessing the limitless potential of solar energy, we anticipate substantial savings in energy expenses over time, which can be redirected towards essential developmental projects.

Furthermore, the transition to solar energy aligns perfectly with our county's ecological aspirations. The clean and renewable nature of solar power significantly reduces carbon emissions, showcasing our commitment to environmental sustainability," Mr Omar added.
