Nyanza professionals condemn CORD protests

A group of professionals from Nyanza has condemned the Opposition-led protests, saying they are meant to ruin the country. The Luo Nyanza Professionals distanced themselves from the demos and called on the Opposition leaders to consider laid out structures in their quest to have the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials out of office.

CORD has in the past one month been staging weekly protests, seeking to have IEBC commissioners out of officers over integrity issues. Led by former head of anti-graft agency PLO Lumumba and former minister Raphael Tuju, the leaders Wednesday expressed their disappointment at the Opposition conduct, saying it has tainted the image of the Luo community.

"It is better for the two coalitions (Jubilee and CORD) to soberly and constructively engage to avert deaths, suffering and the impending economic collapse," said Mr Tuju, adding the demos would lead to radicalisation of Nyanza people.
