Trump presidency may be threat to peace

From the look of things, the US Republican Party presidential candidate Donald Trump might win the party's primaries unless a miracle happens.

As the race to succeed President Barack Obama enters the final phase, and one of the most crucial stages, the US elections have attracted massive interest globally.

This is so because the entire world is apprehensive, concerned and fearful of a Trump presidency.

Mr Trump, a billionaire businessman of repute, has polarised American politics and triggered animosities never seen in recent American presidential politics.

This does not augur well for the US's respect and reputation abroad, as the sole superpower.

The overall decision to elect the next American president lies with the American voter. However, they must be reminded that the US being a military, economic, diplomatic, technological and political superpower, their decision on who to elect as President will definitely affect the entire world.

In a nutshell, choices have consequences. One question Americans must ask themselves is this: Are they ready to trust the highly unpredictable and controversial Trump?
