4 big reasons for the rise in road accidents

Road accidents are on the rise. This alarming rate has been attributed to corruption and ignorance among road users, traffic police and stakeholders in the transport industry.

The Government should ensure all road users act in accordance with the traffic rules.

Stakeholders must also ensure motorists and drivers undergo thorough training in authorised institutions before they are issued with a driving licence.

Transport ministry should formulate laws to restore sanity in the public service industry.

I call upon the public to be vigilant on the road and observe traffic rules. This would help reduce the number of casualties. Officers implicated in corruption scandals on the road should be prosecuted.

In addition, vehicle inspection department must up its game and ensure no road-unworthy vehicle is operating.

All Kenyans should take it upon themselves to be responsible road users to help save lives.
