Host clubs in the Kenyan Premier League that resumed last evening were on the receiving end as most lost to visitors or settled for a point.

Tusker won 3-0 away at Chemilil as Ushuru downed Muhoroni while Ulinzi Stars took a point at Bandari. Sony settled to a 1-1 draw at Post Rangers.

In Mombasa, Bandari maintained their unbeaten home record after they came from a goal down to share the spoils 1-1 with former champions Ulinzi at Mbaraki Sports Club.

Both teams started the match strongly looking for early goals, but defenders stood solid to deny strikers penetration.

Ulinzi silenced Bandari’s drum-beating fans in the 10th minute when Mark Bikokwa connected a neat pass from Kevin Amwayi to put the soldiers ahead.

In the match officiated by Nairobi’s whistler Yasir Kadir, Kenga pulled an equaliser for the dockers after he was fed by Bernard Mang’oli on the stroke of halftime.

At Ruaraka Stadium, Sony were made to wait for their first win of the season after being held 1-1 by new comers Posta Rangers.

The sugar millers recently made changes to their technical bench in the wake of poor results and the impact is already showing as they were the first to go ahead yesterday as Robert Omunuk opened the score in the 16th minute.

Rangers were put on level by dangerman Timothy Otieno who scored three minutes later. Otieno netted his fourth goal of the season, just hours after being crowned the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya player of the month for February.

The award comes with a Sh100,000 token, an LG television set and a customised trophy.

In Muhoroni, Ushuru condemned their hosts Muhoroni Youth to a 2-1 defeat. Dennis Wafula’s 83rd minute broke the hearts of the home fans, who had turned up in large numbers.

Kick off was delayed due to heavy rains. And when it started, Ushuru started off with a high tempo.

Charles Okwemba put the tax men ahead inside 15 minutes from Roosevelt Blaty’s assist.

An early substitution for Muhoroni that saw Abbas Akiyemi brought in for Kelvin Omondi on the quarter-hour, changed the momentum of the game as the Nigerian injected life and energy in midfield for the hosts.

Ten minutes later, Wycliffe Ochomo set up Frankline Osama who summoned individual brilliance to dribble past a hapless Sammy Nduru. However, Ushuru had the final say as Wafula struck to hand coach Ken Kenyatta maximum points.

In Kisumu, Western Stima beat Sofapaka 1-0 thanks to Francis Ocholla’s 37th minute strike.

In Chemelil, Tusker FC needed two quick goals to beat their hosts Chemilil 3-0. Luis Khamadi and Stephen Owusu struck in a space of two minutes midway through the first half as the brewers led 2-0 going into the break.

Former AFC Leopards striker Michael Khamati put the game beyond the reach of their hosts four minutes from time with Tusker’s third goal.
