I am done with Harambee Stars- Kenyan footballer Jamal 'Malo' Mohammed

Kenyan international footballer Jamal Mohammed has no intentions of playing for Harambee Stars in the future.

Jamal, popularly known as 'Malo' is arguably one of Kenya's most stylish midfielders, told his social media fans that it was time he gave more vibrant, talented fresh blood a chance to play for the country.

Through his official Facebook account, the 32 year old posted on 'KPL CHAT' – a popular local fans and footballers page on Facebook - calling upon local stakeholders not to expect his services in the national team.

His argument was that players like Shikokoti, Humphrey Mieno, Osborne Monday, Francis Kahata, Patrick Oboya among others have the requisite skills and should be considered in future Harambee Stars call ups.

"Lakini kwa sasa mimi ni moja ya wale aliyekuwa mchezaji wataifa. Kila kitu ina wakati yake na kwa sasa msione kuna mtu ananipigia debe mimi si guesswork nilijaliwa nayo na Mungu, siombi kick nitwe kwa taifa nasitawai tumia mtu au watu nisaidike kama si haki kwangu."

While asking his fans to bear with him and not to ask the 'Federation' for favours, Jamal called upon the local football management to stop killing the very few young talents in Kenya as they only need guidance.

In a classical tell it all rant, Jamal admitted that whereas he takes Sheesha, Miraa and other stuff, there are players who also drink alcohol but that should not be used as an excuse. He said: "I am not from places like Ahero, Awendo, Chavakali, or Busia for you to start rallying behind my name asking for favours and pretending that I still want to play for the National team, no I do not. Once more, let it be clear that my days are long gone and I remain grateful to everyone because football has helped me a lot but for now, it is my time to support the current crop of players as a fan. The most important thing now is that we get good results, peace be with you."

In July, 2015, The Nairobian reported that detectives from Kenya Police Service stationed at Parklands Police Station, Nairobi were looking for 'Malo' for reportedly assaulting a city lawyer.

The lawyer (name withheld), in a statement recorded at Parklands Police Station claimed that 'Malo' assaulted him on August 23 2014 along Woodvale Grove Westlands. The lawyer wrote that Malo while driving a black Toyota Mark X blocked his car by parking right in front of his way. When the lawyer called upon Malo to clear the way, the bearded footballer came out of his car and beat him up in an attack that saw the lawyer who allegedly lost his tooth.

There are no clear records of Malo's current active football status but his known last engagement is Al-Nasr Sports, Cultural and Social Club, Oman.
