Laws related to rape and defilement should be taught in schools

Most newspaper report daily cases of rape, defilement and mostly affecting minors. It is a high time in the education system, such subjects should be incorporated in the syllabus and be taught as normal lessons. Research shows that out of twenty men, one man is a rapist.

Is it because it is born in them or the films they watch? Such lessons should be taught early in upper primary schools and in secondary schools. These students will complete their studies knowing that it is wrong to rape a woman or defile a young child or even to engage in sex with fellow men.

Most of these habits are picked up in schools and should therefore be discouraged. This will make our society free from rape cases and defilement. In counties such as Turkana, Kilifi and Pokot most women are dressed half naked and cases of rape are rare.
