Ms Fatuma Ibrahim, who was stabbed with a knife on her face, is now recuperating after undergoing successful surgery at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).

Fatuma, 32 was on Thursday airlifted from Wajir District Hospital as a referral case with a knife on the temporal region by the AMREF Flying doctors and the Kenya Red Cross Society to the hospital for specialised treatment at 7.30pm.

Yesterday, KNH Chief Executive Officer Lily Koros Tare said Ms Fatuma sustained multiple stab wounds in the right side of the face among other injuries on the abdomen, legs and chest. The mother of 4 is said to have been attacked by her husband Mohamed Deeq, following a domestic quarrel that has been going on for several weeks.“The patient underwent assessment from a multi-disciplinary team of specialists led by a maxillofacial surgeon to determine the extent of the injuries. A CT Scan was then carried out after which she was taken to the Emergency theatre for the removal of the foreign body (knife),” she said.

The Hospital has put in place an appropriate medical management plan for Fatuma including counseling sessions. The CEO promised: “We take this opportunity to assure the public that she will receive the utmost medical care while at Kenyatta National Hospital”.

Koros lauded the AMREF Flying doctors, Kenya Red Cross Society for airlifting Fatuma to KNH for specialised care.

Her husband has since been arrested over the incident that has shocked Kenyans beyond belief. Many Kenyans took to the social media under the hash tag, #JusticeforFatuma.
