Offer alternative leadership, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua tells CORD leaders

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has criticised the Opposition for its failure to provide alternative leadership.

Speaking in Changamwe while opening the Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement’s coordinating office for coast region, Dr Mutua said opposition politics should not be only about opposing the government.

He called on Opposition leaders to offer alternative development.

“Our Opposition leaders are senior people known and with contacts all over. They need to bring us road projects, factories and markets for our goods so that they also contribute to development,” he said.

Mutua urged the CORD leadership to find ways of building schools, hospitals, factories and other facilities.

The Machakos Governor stated that the Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement was about creating opportunities for Kenyans.

“Anyone who wants the votes of the people who believe in Maendeleo Chap Chap should first show us what he or she will do for our people,” he said.

The governor said he was not merely seeking to be a leader of a movement but he was offering solutions to society’s problems through the systematic implementation of projects that impact on people.

The residents of Mombasa, speaking through their group leaders, said they want a leader who will address and respond to pertinent issues affecting them.

They said they would support leaders who are prepared to meet their aspirations.

Mutua has called on leaders to be tolerant of divergent views.

He said he is in the Wiper Party to stay. “I will stay in the Wiper Party until they kick me out then I will find an alternative.”
