EACC urges public to volunteer information on Eurobond

EACC chief executive Halakhe Waqo said State and Public officials in institutions relevant to the Eurobond transaction have shown a positive response to the commission’s summons.

Nairobi: The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) has called on members of the public to volunteer any information on the alleged scandal involving Eurobond transactions.

The commission said the move was necessitated by the public outcry over how the bond was issued and the consequent allocation of its proceeds.

“The commission’s attention has been drawn to the public debate in relation to floating of the Eurobond and the use of the funds obtained through the process,” said EACC chief executive Halakhe Waqo.

Waqo said the information may be provided through the commission’s anonymous reporting system.

“Information gathered shall solely be used for purposes of investigation in relation to the matter and will be treated with utmost confidentiality,” said Waqo.

While noting that the response by officials summoned to shed light on the process of floating of the Eurobond has been positive, the anti-corruption body asked officers whose time schedules for providing information are yet to be reached to adhere to the call.
