NAIROBI, KENYA: Eight Strathmore university staff have expressed their desire to resign after the security drill which left 23 injured and one dead.

Prof John Odhiambo, the institution's Vice Chancellor on Wednesday announced that he will forward all those intentions to the Universities Council for them to make appropriate action

“I hope the Universities Council will move quickly and come up with a way forward. We give them a maximum of two weeks," said Odhiambo

"We are working with student's council and alumni to bring the environment to normalcy. We express our apologies to the family of our colleague who lost her life during the drill and all those who were injured and going through alot of pain in hospital.”

“The intention of the security drill was meant to help us prepare our community that includes students and staff on how to be prepared to respond to emergency situations occasioned by terror attacks,” he said

He added that the director of security in the institution were in touch with OCPD Lang'ata and the Nairobi County Commandant office. He clarified this was not communicated to the Inspector General office.

"We are working together with the family who lost their loved one to see how we can help them.”
