Rio Ferdinand describes Eliud Kipchoge as a legend

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand on Saturday, October 12, referred to marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge as a legend.

This came after the athlete ran and finished a marathon under two hours proving his words that ‘No human is limited’.

Through his twitter account, Ferdinand posted photographs of the athlete crossing the finish line with the time at 1:59:40.

The retired footballer described the achievement as unimaginable.

Some of the most recognisable individuals and organisations who have sent their congratulatory messages to Kipchoge include Manchester City Football Club, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, IAAF, Yaya Toure among many others.

Piers Morgan, a renowned media personality, also went ahead to insist on the athlete's phrase that ‘No human is limited’ and further indicated that it was a truly remarkable achievement.

The challenge sponsor, Sir Jim Ratcliffe had expressed faith in Eliud completing the challenge, saying he was the only athlete capable of achieving this ‘impossible’ feat.

“Eliud Kipchoge is the greatest ever marathon runner and the only athlete in the world who has any chance of beating the two-hour time,’ Ratcliffe said last week.

Kipchoge will now rest easy, having tried and failed to break this record at an event in Monza, Italy in 2017 where he crossed the finish line after 2:00:25, 25 seconds short of the two-hour barrier.
