University of Eldoret ready to host national KUSA games playoffs

Over 40 universities will take part in this year's Kenya Universities Sports Association (KUSA) national playoffs in Eldoret.

The University of Eldoret will host the two-day event. The teams from six conferences will compete in seven disciplines. They include football, volleyball, hockey, handball, netball, tennis and table tennis (men and women).

In football, 12 teams will compete where the finalists will book slots to the finals. Rift, Western, Central, Nairobi South and Coast Conferences have submitted their teams. Nairobi North Conference is yet to submit its teams in the men's category.

In the women's category, hosts and Egerton will represent Rift Conference, while Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and Kibabii will represent Western Conference.

Karatina and Meru will represent Central; Technical University of Kenya (TUK) and University of Nairobi will represent Nairobi South, while Pwani University and Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) will represent Coastal Conference. Nairobi North conference will be represented by Kenyatta University and Mount Kenya University (MKU).

In the men's category, Egerton and Moi University will represent Rift Conference; MMUST and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology will represent Western; Meru University and Murang'a University will represent Central; TUK and Multi Media University (MMU) will represent Nairobi South conference. TUM and Pwani University will represent Coastal Conference.

The semifinal match between Kenyatta University and KeMU's Nairobi Campus will be played today at USIU-A. In the first semifinal, Strathmore University defeated MKU Nairobi 1-0 to qualify for the final. The winner will join other teams in the Nairobi North Conference.

In women's volleyball, Moi and Egerton will represent Rift Conference, while Maseno and MMUST will represent Western Conference.

Karatina and Meru will represent Central Conference. St Paul's University and Kenyatta University will fly the Nairobi North flag. Pwani University and TUM will represent the Coastal Conference.

In men's volleyball, Egerton University and Moi will represent Rift Conference, while Maseno, MMUST and Kisii will represent Western Conference.

Other universities that have qualified in volleyball are MMU and University of Nairobi, Strathmore, JKUAT, TUM and Pwani.
