Nyandarua secured a 2-0 win over Siaya in tug of war to take a lead in their group as the County Assemblies Sports Association  (CASA) games kicked off at ASK Nakuru Showground Monday.

Nyandarua pulled their opponents to their disbelief in the first round and repeated the same in the second round to bag the maximum two points.

By winning their first match, Nyandarua are taking one match at a time and will not underestimate any of their opponents in their quest to win the title in the week-long games.

"We are here for serious business but we'll not underrate any of our opponents because we are here for serious business," said Nyandarua captain Anthony Muchai.

The group has four teams in Elgeyo Marakwet, Siaya, Taita Taveta and Nyandarua.

The games were officially opened by Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture Ababu Namwamba in the presence of CASA officials led by Secretary General Peter Imwatok.

Namwamba said he supports the games as a forum that cultivates unity and diversity to incorporate everybody irrespective of their political affiliations.

All the 47 county Assemblies are taking part in the week-long games.

Meanwhile, Trans Nzoia defeated Nakuru 2-0 in the first football match at the same venue.

Teams will compete in a total of 13 disciplines to produce the overall winners in the five day competition.
