Tanzanian striker set to light up the Premier League

The English Premier League is ready to welcome yet another East African to its ranks.

According to English news outlets Mirror and Daily Mail, Tanzanian striker Ally Samatta is on the verge of completing a £8.4million move to Premier League side Aston Villa from Belgian outfit Genk.

The 27-year-old, who is famous for scoring against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League group stages, has bagged an impressive 76 goals for “The Smurfs” in just 191 appearances.

Samatta is reported to have departed the Genk training ground on Thursday, January 16 as the two clubs pursue the deal, but could still be unplayable by Saturday as Dean Smith’s men visit Brighton and Hove Albion.

On the international scene, Samtta has scored 20 goals in 56 appearances for his country.

This season, he has found the back of the net 10 times from 28 appearances.

Samatta will become Villa’s third signing of the year after the acquisition of Former Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater and ex-Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
