Kylian Mbappe name-dropped Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard while looking ahead at his future in football.

Mbappe has emerged as a Reds transfer target in recent weeks despite Paris Saint-Germain's insistence the World Cup-winning forward is not for sale.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently told France Football: "Mbappe? I'm 200 per cent sure he will still be at PSG next season."

The Frenchman hasn't opened up in the press in quite the same way as Paul Pogba this summer, but Liverpool fans are convinced he has been dropping subtle hints from hanging out with Reds fan LeBron James, to praising Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool supporters noticed that the forward even recently started following current and former Reds players on Instagram.

He even said he'd pick Liverpool as his team to play with on FIFA if he was facing off against someone for money, simply because they are the Champions League winners.

Mbappe was asked about his future in a recent interview with ESPN and admitted he could one day finish his career in America, like Gerrard before him.

"We don’t know what happens in football," said the Frenchman.

"Now in the USA, a lot of great players come after their careers in Europe, like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo, great players. You don’t know what can happen, maybe when I’m a little older I can think about this."
