Chelsea fans are taking their revolt against Maurizio Sarri a notch higher with a large number of season ticket holders opting out of the upcoming Premier League matches by putting their tickets up for sale.

 

Stamford Bridge is now experiencing a gloomy atmosphere with empty seats as seen in the last home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

 

The situation is expected to worsen as more unoccupied seats are expected when Premier League resumes after the international break.

 

The situation puts Sarri's managerial position in jeopardy as the 'power of empty seats', which has seen managers quit or get sacked starts to manifest at the Bridge.

It has been reported that more than 400 ticket holders for this Premier League campaign have listed their seats for sale on Chelsea's official exchange service for their derby game against West ham despite the encounter being a London derby.

 

According to British local publications, other 700 fans have been selling tickets for the match against Burnley that is scheduled to play on April 22. There are other supporters who haven't put their tickets up for sale but do not plan to attend the upcoming fixtures.

 

The number of fans running away from their once beloved club is now worrying as some of them put their seats up for sale 12 hours after Chelsea announced that the rescheduled fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion will be played on April 3.

 

The London outfit lost 2-0 to Everton on Sunday denting their Champions League hopes with eight games to play.

The Blues still have opportunities to salvage their pride including the Europa League quarter-final tie against Slavia Prague but the fans opting out suggests loss of faith in their manager.

 

The Chelsea faithful started turning on their manager sometime back when a fan confronted Sarri outside Vitality Stadium after a 4-0 loss to AFC Bournemouth.

 

'Maurizio, you should resign after that, that was appalling, terrible, terrible, if you can't motivate them, you said you may be using them wrong, that was disgusting, the worst performance ever,' the man shouted as Sarri walked alongside a steward.

 

Sarri, however, went on to apologise to the fan.

 'I am really sorry for you. You are completely right," he said.

 

The Vitality parking lot incident was followed by a series of jeers in the matches that followed with abusive sentiments being directed at his tactics during the loss against Manchester United in the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge.
