Man United makes funny mistake in tweeting team sheet, and deletes it

Manchester United's official Twitter account was forced to delete its team news announcement after fans noticed a humorous gaffe.

Ahead of the Red Devils' game with Leicester City, the club posted an image of their teamsheet, as they do every single week.

But eagle-eyed fans noticed that this week they got the date a little wrong - suggesting the two teams had travelled back in time.

Underneath the sides' names read: "Premier League 23 December, 2012."

Fans pointed out the mistake, prompting the club to take action and quickly delete the tweet before re-posting it with the correct date.

The gaffe caused a few laughs on the thread that emerged under the new tweet, as one fan pointed out that 2012 was back in the 'good old days' under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.

Manchester United's team is as you would expect for their game against the Foxes, with Jesse Lingard keeping his place after a great run of form.

The only anomaly is Victor Lindelof playing right-back at the expense of the injured Matteo Darmian.

Upon selecting the Swede in this position, Jose Mourinho said: "Darmian is injured. We don't have too many more options and Victor has experience to play in the position at the highest level, so it's not new for him."
