Dani Alves' imminent move to Manchester City isn't all about the money - according to reports that say he was offered even more to move to Chelsea.

The Juventus star is set to be reunited with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola at the Etihad when his release from the Serie A champions is confirmed.

The defender is currently on holiday in Brazil, where the local edition of Goal says he was offered two million euros more to join the Premier League title holders.

When the Man City deal is finalised, Alves is set to be earning €5m (£4.4m) per season.

Goal Brazil say he could have been making €7m (£6.15m) at Stamford Bridge.

Alves also turned down an offer of an extra year at Juve when he made the call to move to Manchester.

Juve is said to be looking at Southampton defender Cedric Soares as Alves' replacement.

The Italian giants, who can offer Champions League football, are targeting the Portuguese defender who is currently on Confederations Cup duty.

He still has three years left on his contract, however, with the Saints likely to be reluctant to sell.

Soares as also previously been connected with City.
