New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp slammed by Man United legend

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has been quick to get stuck in to new Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, report the Manchester Evening News .

The former Dortmund manager was unveiled as Brendan Rodgers' successor at Anfield this morning but took Schmeichel to Twitter to remind the German just how hard his predecessors have found the job.

The 48-year-old set his sights on delivering the Premier League title within the next four years when he faced the media this morning.

"If I sit here in four years I am pretty confident we will have one title," he said.

But after seeing the quote on Twitter, Schmeichel, who won five Premier League title between 1991 and 1999, replied: "First mistake? Others have made the same promise. It's not that easy Mr Klopp."

Liverpool have won 18 titles, second only to United's 20. But they haven't lifted English football's top prize for 25 years, a run dating back to 1990.

Since then Liverpool have sacked seven managers including Graeme Souness, Gerard Houllier, Rafael Benitez, Roy Hodgson and Rodgers.
