Hotel doorman confuses Mourinho and nearly ruined Chelsea's United masterplan

Hotel doorman told Chelsea's Mourinho that Fellaini was not playing for Man Utd

Jose Mourinho feared his tactical masterplan had backfired after a case of mistaken identity.

He was stunned when told Manchester United’s in-form Marouane Fellaini had turned up at Chelsea’s team hotel on Saturday morning and was not playing.

He had posed for pictures with guests and was dressed in jeans and not a club tracksuit.

Mourinho had spent all week in training working on a plan to cope with Fellaini.

But although it was a Fellaini at the hotel, it turned out to be the midfielder’s lookalike brother Mansour.

Chelsea boss Mourinho said: “I came down in the morning and the doorman said, ‘Fellaini isn’t playing’.

“The doorman asked him, ‘What do you want here?’ He said, ‘I’m Fellaini and I’ve come to get tickets from my friend Eden Hazard’.

“Didn’t smell well for me. I go to Google on my phone and I put in Fellaini brother. The guy is the same.

“So I go with the pictures to the doorman. I say, ‘This one or this one?’ He looks, ‘This one’.

“F*** off, he’s the brother”.
