Sami Khedira pushing for Arsenal transfer after rejecting Real Madrid contract offer

Sami Khedira is pushing for a move to Arsenal, according to reports in Spain.

The German international is reported to have rejected a contract offer from Real Madrid.

Furthermore, they indicate the 27-year-old is keen to swap Madrid for north London and join compatriots Mesut Ozil and Per Mertesacker at the Emirates.

Indeed, it is believed the duo could play a potentially crucial role in seeing the transfer through.

El Confidencial suggest that a new two-year deal is on offer at the Bernabeu but that the midfielder is considering his options.

One stumbling block could be Khedira's wages - at £150,000 he would become the Gunners' highest earner.

That said, with only 12 months left on his deal Real may well encourage him to leave rather than lose him for free in a year's time.

With deals for Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy all but done things are looking up for Arsenal fans.

The Chilean is believed to be heading for London on Thursday for a medical ahead of a blockbuster £35m move from Barcelona.

At an estimated £10m Debuchy is undoubtedly cheaper but no less important and figures to be a ready-made replacement for the outgoing Bacary Sagna at right back.
