Gor Mahia's Sally Bolo opts to put her intention to vie as NEC Women Representative on hold

Gor Mahia treasurer Sally Bolo has revealed she will not vie for the position of NEC Women Representative in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) elections until certain issues are solved.

Bolo, withdraws her candidature amidst the ongoing case involving FKF and the Sports Disputes Tribunal (SDT).

In a statement seen by Game Yetu on Friday, Bolo said that the dispute surrounding FKF elections “does not bode well for football and rob the sport of a much needed tranquil aura to thrive.”

“I want to thank each and every one of you for the support and encouragement you have accorded me ever since I declared my intention to vie for the seat of NEC Women Representative in the FKF National election.

“However, in view of the protracted and injurious ligations surrounding these polls, I wish to refrain from presenting my nominations papers for the current round.

“This decision is premised on a firm belief that for meaningful change and progress to be realized in football, all stakeholders must pull in one direction,’’ said Boly.

She further added: “I hold the opinion that a clear roadmap should be established paving way for a controversy-free election after the current legal impulse is sorted.”

In the rift, troubled FKF wants the SDT to compel the Sports Registrar to allow them to conduct their elections first and, thereafter, progressively comply with the Act.

Unfortunately, Bolo who was set to vie for NEC Women Representative alongside Kerubo Momanyi and Margaret Omondi says it is only right to submit her nomination once the issues are resolved.

“It is then that will I file my nomination papers in readiness to capture my preferred NEC position. My hope and belief is that amicable ending to the dispute surrounding these elections will be arrived at and football will win in the end.”

As it stands, the current FKF regime time in the office has already passed, with the officials pressed by time having missed several deadlines.

The FKF term expired on February 10, 2020, and attention could shift to the world football governing body FIFA if the matter is not resolved.
