Defending champions Nairobi Water Queens are confident of retaining their women’s title when they face Kenya Defence Forces side, Ulinzi Women, in Kenya Handball Federation Super Cup finals at Kaloleni Grounds today.

Queens defeated MKU-Thika 41-12 in semis to book their third straight final against KDF, who saw off National Cereals and Produce Board.

Jack Herbert, the Queens coach, said they are determined to win their third consecutive title.

“The team is psyched up and ready to stage a good show. We are confident and I think we will prove our strength in the sport once again if we win the title for the third time,” Herbert said.

Nairobi Water Queens have won the tournament since the inception and despite standing out as favourites, Herbert urged his team to be wary of the soldiers.

“We have respect for our opponents who have emerged strong this year in both their men’s and women’s teams. We should be careful because they are a strong team too,” he added.

In men’s finals, Kenya Defence Force side, Ulinzi men, will face National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB men).

Ulinzi coach Kaviti Nyaga said he expects a tough match against NCPB whom he termed as an aggressive side.
