Ribery confident he’s done enough to beat Cristiano Ronaldo to Ballon d’Or title

FRANCE: Bayern Munich’s Franck Ribery insists he has done enough to fight off competition from Cristiano Ronaldo for the Ballon d’Or title.

Ribery will go head-to-head with Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi for the accolade in January, although Messi may slip out of contention due to being sidelined through injury.

French international Ribery has scored 11 goals in 21 matches for club and country this season, compared with Ronaldo’s stunning tally of 32 in just 22 appearances.

But despite the goalscoring disparity, the 30-year-old remains confident of becoming the first Frenchman to win the award since Zinedine Zidane in 1998.

‘I am confident. I have done all I had to,’ Ribery told Le Monde

‘If you look at my performances all year long, I have made the difference. I may not score in every match but I set the defences on fire.

‘Ronaldo certainly scores more than I do, but we don’t have the same style.’
