Merali tops golf tournament at Sigona

Sameer Merali emerged the overall winner of the Sweets Golf tournament held at Sigona Golf Club at the weekend.

Merali collected an impressive 43 points to emerge winner against a strong field of golfers.

Sushil Shah finished runner-up, losing on count-back after collecting 42 points in what was a tough competition in all the rounds.

At third position was Sakhi Shah on 42 points, while Kabir Choda finished fourth after collecting 41 points. Sahen Shah completed the top five position on 40 points.

In the individual categories, favourite Anjly Shah easily won the women’s title after collecting 36 points.

JUNIOR GOLFER

Top junior golfer, Sayyam Shah, won in this category on 39 points as Jitu Mandalyia went home with the guest prize with an impressive 32 points.

Honey Choda fired 23 points to claim the first nine top prize and Wazir Merali ran away with the second nine on 22 points. Businessman Sameer Merali claimed the longest drive prize, with Brij Patel finishing nearest to the pin.

At Muthaiga Golf Club, Kelvin Mabele collected 37 points to emerge winner of the Dyer and Blair-sponsored tournament.

Playing in an impressive weather, Mabele posted impressive results in the first and second nine to easily emerge the winner. The men’s winner was Nelson Mudanyi, who was not far off from the overall winner after collecting 36 points. P Kanyua was right behind the top finishers with an impressive 35 points that saw him finish runners-up in the men’s category, while Benny Orwako was third after claiming 35 points and losing on count-back.

KARANO BEST

Top lady golfer, Mary Karano emerged the best in her category after amassing 35 points.

Other category winners were Brian Gudka (first nine), G.Gachuki (second nine), M Muhia (staff winner) and Victor Kidiwa (longest drive).

Regine Biau emerged the overall winner of the Peter Githua Memorial tournament at Muthaiga.

The winner posted an overall score of 42 points, managing 22 points in the first nine and another 20 in the second.

Albert Odero was the men’s winner on 42 points, with Andrew Okeyo finishing runners-up after collecting 40 points. Rajesh Bhabra claimed the top gross prize on 75 gross. Other winners were: Stella Macharia (lady), Aman Mohindra (junior), Annie Mutethia (guest lady winner), E Kalya (men’s guest winner) and C Kigwe (best effort).
