Nairobi, Kenya: The county government has suspended 51 nurses working for Pumwani Maternity Hos,pital who have been on strike.

The administration accused the health workers of boycotting duties illegally and that the Government did not recognise the Kenya National Union of Nurses.

Health Executive Benard Muia said suspension letters had already been sent out to the striking nurses.

He said they would know their fate once the Public Service Health Committee completed its probe.

Mr Muia said the action was taken after staff declined to resume duty even after being warned.
