Man United send scouts to watch Portuguese stars against Belgium

Manchester United target Reanato Sanches

Manchester United scouts will be in Leiria on Tuesday to watch a trio of Portuguese stars.

Bernardo Silva, Andre Gomes and Renato Sanches are all expected to start for the hosts against Belgium.

The three midfielders are all clients of super agent Jorge Mendes, who revealed in February that United had had a winter £31million bid for teenager Sanches rejected.

Silva, of Monaco, is a playmaker who is also attracting attention from Juventus while Andre Gomes, whose playing style has been compared to Michael Ballack, plays for Gary Neville’s Valencia.

The game was supposed to have taken place in Brussels but was cancelled following the terrorist attacks in Belgium last week before being reinstated but switched to Portugal.

United could be in line for a squad shake-up in the summer, with Louis van Gaal’s job prospects still under discussion and former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho waiting in the wings to take over at Old Trafford.
