Tusker, Gor and AFC aiming to pile pressure on KCB

Title-chasing Tusker, Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards will all be looking to pile pressure on FKF Premier League leaders KCB when they take on their respective opponents today.

While second placed Tusker will be seeking to narrow the gap on the bankers (42) to one point when they welcome struggling Western Stima at 1pm at Ruaraka Grounds, a resurgent Gor Mahia who are tied on 37 points with archrivals AFC Leopards will be clashing with Wazito in Thika.

Leopards will get into action against relegation threatened Mathare United at Ruaraka at 3.15pm just a few hours after the Tusker v Western Stima encounter.

Unlike Gor Mahia, who are enjoying a seven game winning streak, third placed Leopards dropped four points in their last two matches (1-3 Bidco United, 2-2 Sofapaka).

Gor Mahia have not tasted defeat since falling 1-0 to Posta Rangers in March.

And to ensure Ingwe piles more misery on the bottom-rooted Mathare, AFC Leopards branches yesterday gave the players a motivational token of Sh217,000 at Camp Toyoyo Grounds.

This was part of their Betway Shield pre-quarter finals winning allowances over Bungoma Superstars (4-2).

“We have now fulfilled our promise and the players are now motivated ahead of the Mathare United match,” said AFC Leopards fan Franklin ‘Kuka’ Imbenzi.

“This is an initiative from the fans through their branches and we are committed to stand with the team throughout the season.”

While Leopards will be aiming to complete a double over Frank Ouna’s boys whom they beat 1-0 last month, their talisman Elvis Rupia will be out to either go level on 14 goals with current top scorer Eric Kapaito (Kariobangi Sharks) or leapfrog him.
