Barcelona’s teenage sensation Ansu Fati out for FOUR months after knee surgery

Barcelona have announced winger Anssumane Fati will be out for four months after a successful operation on his left knee. 

“The first team player Ansu Fati has been operated on successfully by Dr. Ramon Cugat for the injury to the internal meniscus of his left knee under the supervision of the Club's medical staff. The player will be out for approximately four months,” said Barcelona on their website.

Fati was taken off at half-time in Barcelona’s 5-2 win over Real Betis on Saturday, November 7.

The 18-year-old has featured in 10 games for Barcelona this season, 7 in La Liga and 3 in the Champions League.

He has scored five goals and provide two assists.

In total, Fati has played 43 games for Barcelona, scored 13 goals and has provided three assists. He has scored 11 times in the league and twice in the Champions League

Fati’ has now been added to the Guinness Book of Records, for being the youngest-ever player to score a goal in the UEFA Champions League, when he got a goal against Inter Milan in a group stage tie on December 10, 2019.

Fati’s goal, ensured the Catalans remained undefeated at the end of Group F qualifying, consequently knocking out Inter out of the competition.

He scored this goal at the age of 17 years and 40 days – the youngest ever player to do so in the competition.

In his debut season (2019/2020), Fati scored a total of seven goals, providing ne assist in 33 appearances.

His feat has now been added on page 2014 of the Guinness Book of Records.

Guinness World Records, known as The Guinness Book of Records and in previous United States editions as The Guinness Book of World Records, is a reference book published annually, listing world records both of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world.
