Erling Haaland 'en route to Manchester United' to seal January transfer move

Erling Haaland is reportedly en route to Manchester United with father Alf-Inge to thrash out a January transfer deal.

Haaland has been a top target for his former Molde manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since his stunning emergence with Red Bull Salzburg this season.

It now appears the situation has advanced and the Red Devils have taken a major lead in the race to land his signature, with Norwegian newspaper Aftenbladet reporting he travelled to Manchester on Friday morning for talks.

Haaland was joined by his father, former Leeds and Manchester City star Alf-Inge, on the flight from Sola to Manchester, as well as Jim Solbakken, the agent of Solskjaer who has close links to Haaland and is involved in his future.

Solskjaer this week confirmed United's interest in signing his fellow Norwegian, who he handed a senior debut whilst manager of Molde.

He is said to have held "positive talks" with Haaland after flying to Salzburg for an urgent meeting last Friday with the transfer race hotting up.

Several top clubs are keen on Haaland, with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig the main challengers to United in the battle as the likes of Juventus also monitor his situation.

"He is a player I like," Solskjaer told Norwegian TV channel Viasport.

"We are looking for good players all the time.

"Erling has had a good development, so he has to develop further wherever he decides.

"I don’t need to talk so much about him, but we as a team always look for players who can complement the others we have, and then we see what we end up with."

Haaland is said to be keen to get his future decided by Christmas.

He wants a big contract as well as assurances over Solskjaer's future, according to reports, as he eyes a big move after scoring 24 goals in 20 games in all competitions.

The prolific 19-year-old also has an offer on the table from Leipzig as he considers his options.
