Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama is reportedly being scouted by Premier League side Bournemouth as the transfer window nears shutdown.

This is after he failed to feature in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Real Madrid in the Audi Cup semi-finals on Tuesday.

They went ahead and won the 2019 Audi Cup on Wednesday after beating hosts Bayern Munich 6-5 on penalties following a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena.

His club said that he did not travel with the rest of the squad because he was nursing a knee injury.

And as reported by English news outlet Daily Mail, Bournemouth have made a late bid for the 28-year-old who is currently struggling with a knee injury according to his club.

“Victor Wanyama reported irritation in his knee after training today and has remained in Enfield to be assessed,” read a statement on the club’s website.

Bournemouth, who finished 14th in the Premier League last season, are keen on landing Wanyama after their midfielder Dan Gosling underwent hip surgery and will be sidelined for the next three months.

“AFC Bournemouth midfielder Dan Gosling has undergone surgery on a hip muscle injury and will be sidelined for around three months,” read a club statement.

“Having been assessed by both the club’s medical staff and a specialist, Gosling was operated on over the weekend.”

But even after recovery, Wanyama appeared more or less a 'surplus requirement' to Spurs.

Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino preferred playing English midfielders Eric Dier and Harry Winks and benched the Harambee Stars skipper.

The arrival of Tanguy Ndombele from Olympique Lyon adds to Wanyama's woes as he fights for a place in the first eleven.

Spurs completed a club-record deal (£65m) for Ndombele who signed a six-year contract with the club.

The 22-year-old French international is one of the most promising midfielders in the world and is anticipated to take the Premier League by storm.

Wanyama, who featured in all the three matches for Kenya at the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt last month, still has two years left on his contract with the North London club.
