Bandari coach Bernard Mwalala will be up against his former club Nzoia Sugar when the two teams lock horns in a Sportpesa Premier League match at Mbaraki Sports Club on Saturday.

“I am optimistic Bandari will win. I understand Nzoia’s playing format,” said Mwalala.

“But I will not underrate Nzoia despite their recent poor performance in the league. I will take the remaining matches seriously. We will play with some of the teams that are threatened with relegation and, as you know, teams in the facing the chop often pulls surprises,” said Mwalala.

Mwalala was in charge when Nzoia beat Bandari 1-0 in the first leg and it will be interesting to watch how he will marshal his charges into beating Bandari.

“My players are aware of what I expect from them on Saturday. There are five teams fighting for the second position and we cannot afford to lose. Nzoia is a good side. I coached them and they play a fast pace match," he said.

Bandari lie second with 48 points on the log while Nzoia lie at the 14th position with 31 points and are threatened with relegation if they don’t impress in their remaining matches.

But two Bandari strikers, William Wardi and Darrius Msagha, are out with injuries.

“Wardi and Msagha have been ruled out of Saturday’s match but I have strong substitutes,” said Mwalala.

He said the two will resume after two weeks as they started light training this week. Wardi picked a serious injury during Bandari and Gor Mahia match while Msagha was injured during the team’s training at Mbaraki Sports Club.

With their absence, Mwalala is likely to have former Kakamega Homeboyz striker Wycliffe Ochomo and Collins Agade upfront.
