Football: Dawo’s appeal kitty launched

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has launched a funds appeal to help former international Peter Dawo raise Sh650,000 to undergo knee surgery.

The federation has urged fans to send as little as Sh10 to paybill number 891300 with account number 13561.

FKF Head of Communications Barry Otieno said the money will go along way in assisting the legend. “He did a lot for this country and now he is in trouble and need to help him,” he said.

Last month, Dawo said he had raised only Sh150,000 towards the fund-raiser. He was initially supposed to undergo the operation on July 15 but this was not done after he failed to raise enough money.

Dawo is ravaged by Osteoarthritis that doctors say will require a total replacement of his left knee to relieve the pain and restore his posture.

“The pain is now becoming unbearable,” Dawo told Standard Sports. [Gilbert Wandera]
