Manchester City signing Jesus shows he's a quality prospect as the Brazilians win for the first time since 1983 in Ecuador under their new boss

Gabriel Jesus made a dream senior international debut as Brazil breathed life into their World Cup qualifying campaign with a win over Ecuador.

The teenager, signed for an initial £27million by Manchester City last month, scored twice as the Selecao recorded only their third victory in seven games – and their first away from home.

It was the start of a new era for the visitors, with former Corinthians coach Tite in the dugout for the first time since replacing Dunga in June.

He faced a tough opening assignment, with Brazil not having won in Ecuador since 1983.

But after a first half of few clear-cut chances, Gabriel took the game by the scruff of the neck after the interval, winning the penalty from which Neymar opened the scoring before netting with a clever flick and adding another at the death.
