Jose Mourinho: Chelsea will not miss Petr Cech

Jose Mourinho has said that Chelsea do not miss Petr Cech.

Cech left Chelsea to sign for Arsenal last month but took the headlines for the wrong reason when he dropped a clanger in the opening weekend defeat to West Ham.

Chelsea, meanwhile, didn't have much luck with goalkeepers as Belgian No.1 Thibaut Courtois - the man who forced Cech out of the team - was sent off as the Blues dropped points.

Mourinho brought in Asmir Begovic as Cech's replacement this summer and the Bosnian still stand in for Courtois during his suspension.

That leaves the Portuguese boss with no qualms over Cech - other than the fact Arsenal have strengthened.

"We don’t miss Petr," Mourinho has been quoted saying.

"We’ve got a good keeper, the problem with Petr is not that we miss him because we have two excellent keepers.

"The problem with Petr is that an opponent is better than before."

Begovic was given plenty of game time during pre-season and Mourinho has hailed his club's bosses for getting the deal done early in the transfer window.

He believes that early business will only serve to benefit Chelsea.

"Thibaut and Asmir are two fantastic keepers. My club did very well by getting a keeper on time and not on the August 31."
